The Samsung Metro 3500 is a low to mid-range slide phone with a smart metallic finish and with a Soul-inspired design and smart metallic looks. It is one of the popular silderphone from Samsung’s Ultra mobile series which is a great mid-range phone. It comes in a variety of color schemes, which has always been a distinctive feature of Samsung's mid-range phones.

The spring-loaded mechanism works pretty well too - the halves slide back and forth effortlessly. On the left there are volume controls, while the opposite side features a dedicated camera button and Samsung's proprietary interface connector used for plugging in chargers and headsets. On the downside, the Metro 3500's memory card slot is housed under the battery. The 2 MP camera module is mounted on the back of the top half, meaning that you can only use it when the phone is slid open.

Samsung Metro 3500 is packed in a brushed solid casing which feels well-balanced for thumbwork while sliding up and down. The keypad is very finger-friendly as the numbers are sensibly spaced and divided by curved ridges which ensures that you always type the numbers or texts accurately and quickly. The softkeys help you to access the menu and phonebook options with ease.

The menu system is regulation Samsung, with a main icon-based grid set-up, and subsequent numbered lists of sub-menu options. Straightforward to operate, with the slider down you can also select options by pressing a number rather than scrolling. The phone has around 45MB of user memory, though you can slot in MicroSD card up to 8GB. You can transfer tracks and other files by Bluetooth too.

Bluetooth stereo headphones can be used as an alternative to the in-box earphones, which are an average quality set with handsfree capability. You wouldn't expect a phone like this to have a standard 3.5mm headphone socket, and the S3500 doesn't surprise, with Samsung's multi-connector slot on the side taking care of business for charger, USB and earphones.

We can’t compare the video and picture quality produced by Metro 3500 camera with the results of high-end expensive dedicated digital cameras or handicams. But with for a sharp shooter 2 mega pixel digital camera, Metro 3500 captures lively pictures and vivid vidoes.

The camera produces outstanding results if you wisely make the most of its view finder, auto-switch and flash functions. You can use the camera for recording videos which can later be watched on the 2.2 inch QVGA display screen which produces almost 16 million colours. It comes with following features:

-- MultiShot: Takes 6, 9 or 15 shots in a rapid succession
-- Mosaic: Your snap will be stitched from a batch of images, on top of that, you can pick of the 18 templates. At a glance, this is a totally useless features, but I found these images great for decorating my standby screen, when selected wallpapers displayed one after another. Single-piece images just don’t look as good there
-- Panorama: Self-explanatory mode

Samsung Metro 3500 is a great phone when it comes to playing and recording music. The loaded music player is very user friendly with the Samsung software which makes it easier for you to organise tracks and play with a touch on Metro 3500 when you don’t use it for talking, watching or recording videos.

You can also sync it with your laptop or desktop pc to transfer videos, audio clips or other documents using the supplied USB cable or Bluetooth technology. Samsung Metro 3500 comes packed with all the essentials including voice recorder, a calculator, a world clock, a stop watch, timer and convenient messaging options.

More out of the ordinary, however, is that one of the shortcuts is designated for Fake Call – press it a couple of times and you can get an incoming call alert you can answer.

You can even chat to a self-made recording, so you can pretend you're taking a call. The idea is that it may get you out of tricky conversations, meetings, embarrassing situations

The battery life is perfect for decent voice calls and provides upto 380 hours of stand by and 5 hours of talk time. Being a quad-band phone, you can use it globally after activation of roaming service by your operator.

Main Features Of Samsung Metro 3500

- 2.2-inch TFT, QVGA resolution (240 x 320), 16M colors
- microSD card slot (up to 8 GB)
- 2 megapixel camera with digital image stabilization and panorama shot, QVGA video
- Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP
- Standard microUSB port

TRAPPED IN THE UNDERGROUND - The Train.

Suddenly all the lights on that crowded underground train went out. Then it stopped in that dark tunnel.

We waited. We expected the lights to come on again soon. But nothing happened. Then I began to smell something. Yes, I could smell smoke. So I asked myself, "Is this train on fire?" People around me then began to cry out in fear. "The train is on fire!" they cried.

Then the woman standing next to me suddenly fell on the floor. I realised she was overcome by the smoke. Then I saw flames appearing. "If something does not happen soon," I said to myself, "I will be burnt alive!"

But as I stood there in the dark in that crowded burning train, I could see no way to escape. I thought, "No-one can save me from certain death but God. Only God can make a way for any of us to escape death in this train."

I HEARD

So I cried, "God, if it is not my time to die, please help me!" Now as I spoke to God in this way, something happened. I heard a noise. It was like a door opening. It was on my right hand side. So in the dark, I at once began to push my way forward to where that noise came from.

So before the flames reached me, I found the open door and I climbed out of the train into the dark tunnel. Then as quickly as I could, I ran from the burning train down the tunnel. Now as I ran I could hear hundreds of people that were locked in that burning train, crying out for help. I knew I could do nothing to help them to escape from the burning train, so I ran on.

Then for two hours I kept walking in that dark train tunnel. At last I saw a light in the distance. "Thank God!" I cried. "God, you alone saved my life from death!" I said. I asked myself "Why did God enable me to escape death?" I decided, "God must have a purpose for saving my life. He must want me to help other people experience what He could do for them."

I COULD NOT FORGIVE - Hiroshima atomic bomb.

by Kiyoko Tanimoto

An eye witness account of the Hiroshima atomic bomb

I lay there buried alive under our house when the bomb hit our city. The bomb started great fires. The fires came nearer and nearer to us as workers tried to reach us. "Hurry!" they cried to one another as the flames came nearer. At last the workers reached us and pulled me and my mother out from under everything, before the flames reached us.

Now later, as I thought of the pilot of the plane that dropped the atomic bomb on our city, I cried, "I hate him. I hate him." The people with marked faces from the effects of the bomb made me cry, "I hate him." I saw people suffering a terrible, slow death. Again and again I cried, as I saw these people, "I hate that pilot, I hate him!"

I HATED HIM

Now some time later I was in USA and that pilot appeared in a meeting I attended. As I looked at him, I hated him with a bitter hatred.

But then I listened to what he told us of his experience the day when he dropped the bomb on our city. I heard him say, "When I flew over the city after we dropped the bomb, I cried, 'O God, what have I done'." I realised he found it difficult to speak of that day. He could hardly speak for tears.

As this happened I suddenly realised my hatred of him was wrong. It only made me unhappy also. As I did this, it was as if a heavy load fell off my shoulders. I cried, "God, help me to forgive him. Please God, forgive my wrong feelings towards him. Please give me Your Spirit to control my thoughts."

I also told God, "I am sorry for all my wrong thoughts." I believe Jesus Christ died for my sin. As I did this my life was changed.

I now help people that suffer from hating other people. I seek to help them to love everyone, as I am now able to do.

What jobs did Barack Obama have as a teenager?

Barack Obama worked at Baskin-Robbins during his teen years.

All who work from their child hood, will make their dreams come true. They know their goals and face all the challenges that come their way. The are true men. We need to salute them for what they are.

Thousands of fans have thronged Michael Jackson’s birthplace of Gary, Indiana, to pay an emotional tribute to the King of Pop.

Members of the singer’s family watched as local performers staged a medley of his greatest hits and youngsters mimicked his famous “moonwalk”.

Gary, an industrial city close to Chicago, was Jackson’s home for the first 11 years of his life. Although his formative years were unhappy ones, the mood of the festival was upbeat.

“This is the origin of it all,” Jesse Jackson, the civil rights leader, told 6,000 devotees who joined the event at a local baseball ground. “This is where Michael learned to dance, where he learned to sing, where he learned to sacrifice.”

A seven-foot memorial to Gary’s most famous son was later unveiled by mayor Rudy Clay who hailed the singer for placing the city on the world map and told the crowd that he had moved on to a better place.

“He’s going to put on those golden slippers and he’s going to dance all over God’s heaven,” Mr Clay said.

Joe Jackson, the singer’s controversial father, arrived at the stadium two hours after the tribute began. Surrounded by security guards, he briefly greeted the crowd but otherwise kept a low profile.

The former crane operator has struggled to defend himself in the face of persistent allegations that he abused his son.

Mr Jackson, who on Friday said he suspected “foul play” in the singer’s death, is expected to be a key figure in custody hearings to determine who will act as guardian to the three Jackson grandchildren.

A judge has given Katherine Jackson, the singer’s mother, temporary guardianship but a hearing on whether or not she will continue in that role is expected next week.

Speculation has been mounting that Jackson’s ex-wife, Debbie Rowe, could seek custody of Prince Michael Jr and Paris, the two children she bore the star when they were married in the late 1990s.

Jackson’s third child, Prince Michael II, was born of a surrogate mother whose name has never been disclosed.
